A traditional Dutch windmill rises above a wide field of tulips in this original vertical painting by Mathias. Its large, colour-filled sails spread across a luminous blue and lavender sky, while the foreground is built from dense bands of yellow, orange, red, white and pink flowers. A narrow path draws the eye through the tulip field towards the windmill, creating depth and a clear visual journey through the landscape.

Rather than describing the scene with precise outlines, Mathias builds it through layered acrylic paint, visible brushwork and freely shaped colour. The windmill remains immediately recognisable, but its wooden structure and turning sails are transformed into vivid painterly forms. Below, the tulip field becomes a rhythmic surface of individual marks, capturing the colour and movement of a Dutch spring landscape.

The deep green wooden frame echoes the vegetation surrounding the windmill and visually anchors the bright composition. The painted surface extends irregularly from the canvas onto the frame, deliberately softening the boundary between the image and its surroundings. The frame is permanently integrated into the artwork and forms an inseparable part of the composition.

The canvas is permanently mounted onto a 6 mm board made from natural hardwood and set within an integrated pinewood frame approximately 3 cm wide. The total dimensions, including the frame, are 37 × 47 cm, with a depth of 2 cm. The surface is protected with varnish, and the original painting is signed by Mathias and ready to hang.

Its vertical format, intense colour and clearly defined windmill make this work a strong focal point for a narrow wall, hallway, living space or reading corner. It will appeal especially to collectors who associate the Netherlands with windmills, tulip fields and open skies, but who prefer an original, visibly hand-painted interpretation rather than a conventional landscape image.
