Dutch Impression – Colorful Tulips and a Windmill

A field of tulips unfolds across this original painting in two distinct rhythms. Large red, yellow, white and pink flowers rise from the foreground, while a denser band of color leads the eye toward a traditional Dutch windmill in the distance. A luminous turquoise sky and warm yellow horizon give the landscape the freshness and energy of a bright spring day in the Netherlands.

Mathias builds the scene through visible brushwork, layered acrylic paint and freely shaped areas of color. The tulips are not rendered as repeated decorative forms: each flower differs in scale, direction and stage of opening, creating natural movement and depth. The windmill remains clearly recognisable, yet its structure is softened by painterly marks and the changing colors of the surrounding landscape.

The deep green wooden frame echoes the vegetation within the painting and strengthens the composition without enclosing it in a conventional way. Paint extends irregularly from the canvas onto the frame, deliberately blurring the boundary between the image and its surroundings. The frame is therefore not an interchangeable addition but a permanent, hand-painted part of the artwork.

The canvas is permanently mounted onto a 6 mm board made from natural hardwood and set within an integrated pinewood frame approximately 3 cm wide. The total dimensions, including the frame, are 37 × 47 cm, with a depth of 2 cm. The surface is protected with varnish, and the signed original painting is ready to hang.

This compact but vivid work can become a strong color accent on a light or neutral wall, particularly in contemporary, eclectic or naturally furnished interiors. It will appeal to collectors who associate the Netherlands with tulip fields and windmills but are looking for an individual, visibly hand-painted artwork rather than a conventional decorative image.
