IMPRESSIONS
The Impressions collection brings together original acrylic paintings in which colour, light and atmosphere take precedence over precise detail. Rather than defining every form with strong finishing lines, Mathias builds each composition through visible brushwork, layered colour, painterly texture and freely shaped marks.
This approach reveals a more impressionistic side of the artist’s work. Amsterdam canals, Dutch landscapes, flowers and familiar scenes are interpreted through the mood of a particular moment rather than represented as exact records of reality. Forms remain recognisable, but they are softened, simplified and transformed by colour, movement and the artist’s personal perception.
The collection includes two distinctive forms of presentation. Impressions on Canvas are painted on traditionally stretched canvas, with finished edges that allow the artwork to be displayed without an additional frame. Impressions on Wood are painted on canvas permanently mounted onto a 6 mm board made from natural hardwood. These works are set within an integrated pinewood frame approximately 3 cm wide, which is hand-painted as part of the composition. The paint may extend irregularly onto the frame, deliberately softening the boundary between the image and its wooden surroundings.
Each painting is an original work by Mathias, created for those drawn to contemporary impressionistic art shaped by colour, light, atmosphere and visible painterly texture.

IMPRESSIONS ON CANVAS
Impressions on Canvas presents original acrylic paintings created on traditionally stretched canvas. In these works, Mathias allows colour, light and atmosphere to shape the composition, reducing the strong finishing lines characteristic of his more expressive paintings.
Amsterdam canals, Dutch landscapes, flowers and familiar scenes are interpreted through freely applied paint, visible brushwork and layered colour. Rather than recording every detail precisely, the paintings capture the mood and visual character of a place or moment. Recognisable forms remain present, but they are softened and transformed through texture, movement and the artist’s personal perception.
The painted edges continue the visual character of each composition, allowing the works to be displayed without an additional decorative frame. Every painting is an original, hand-painted artwork on stretched canvas, finished by the artist and ready to hang.

IMPRESSIONS ON WOOD
Impressions on Wood presents original acrylic paintings created on canvas permanently mounted onto a 6 mm board made from natural hardwood. Each work is set within an integrated pinewood frame approximately 3 cm wide, hand-painted by the artist and treated as part of the composition rather than as a separate decorative addition.
In this series, Mathias explores a more impressionistic approach, allowing colour, light and atmosphere to lead the image. Amsterdam canals, Dutch landscapes, flowers and familiar scenes are interpreted through layered paint, visible brushwork and painterly texture, with forms remaining recognisable yet softened by movement, mood and personal perception.
The natural wooden support gives the paintings a firm and durable structure, while the integrated frame reinforces their object-like presence. The painted surface may extend irregularly onto the frame, deliberately softening the boundary between image and surround. As a result, each artwork becomes a complete and inseparable whole — an original hand-painted piece, ready to hang and finished as one unified composition.
